Why choose the name "Save SLR"? This name captures a broad range of ideals to preserve and advance the quality of life in our community.

Save SLR Environment
We have a unique rural environment that enticed many of us to choose this place to live and vacation. With a pristine, namesake lake and aquatic life, recreational fishing and boating, a safe haven for birds and wildlife, the aromatic orange blossums blanketing the park during harvest, astonishing sunsets and clean air, it is a uniquely-blessed environment. We should not take it for granted and must actively be good stewards of it for future generations.

Save SLR Quality of Life
This is an aspirational value that may be recognized during periods of turmoil and decline brought about by a variety of factors. There are many conditions we do not have control over. Others we DO, such as how we react to changes. Save SLR from fear of change that stagnate the flourishing and nourishing of community.

Save SLR Infrastructure
We must encourage clear-eyed and evidence-based knowledge of the weaknesses and strengths of our fundamental infrastructure, most importantly our wastewater plant. In particular, we need to SAVE SLR from attitudes that would "pass the buck" to others, and allow outside 3rd parties to delay and make decisions adverse to the interests of owners.

Save SLR Governance
One of the advantages of being in an HOA is the ability to self-govern with a minimum of interference by outside agents. One of the disadvantages of being in an HOA is the ability to self-govern without oversight and regulation. SAVE SLR from outside and internal influences that, for their own self-interest and promotion, would take advantage of senior owners.

Save SLR Fiscal Integrity
We need to ensure that our leadership adheres to "best practices" in the care of our fiscal resources. This includes cost containment, competent management of projects, timely and accessible disclosure of finances and appropriate engagement of outside advisors and consultants.

Save SLR Communication
Blog contributors will adhere to a high standard of evidenced-based facts, most of which will come from the Official Records of the Association. We also welcome "field input" from readers, who can submit questions and content anonymously at justsayin@save-slr.com All editorial Blogs will be attributed to a person or persons, as a primary author(s) but reader comments and input will be anonymous.

The immediate project of concern is the Security/Gate and the $280,000 + expense. . Future initiatives to discuss will be the Administration Building, The Maintenance Building and the Sewer System. Plus any other issues that may arise.
